Scoliosis screening for grades 6-8 will be ongoing throughout the school year.

Screenings for hearing, vision, height and weight will be done in October-November for 7th grade students.

Referral letters will be sent home with any failures on these screenings. The health office will need a written report of findings and plan of care on all referrals from your child's provider. Nursing will be doing SBIRT screenings with all 7th grade students this year. This screening is a public health, early identification and intervention approach, for students whose pattern of alcohol and/or drug use may put their health at risk. Letters will be sent home to parents explaining this screening with the ability to opt out.

What is PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports)?

The PBIS management system assists schools with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support. Through this behavior management program, consistent strategies and interventions are put in place school-wide for students to follow. Staff is able to ackowledge positive student behavior in the classroom and school-wide using the PBIS reward system. Students work with staff to set behavior goals and through the reporting system of PBIS, are able to track their progress. Based on positive behavior individual progress, students are able to participate in wonderful class, grade-level, or whole-school events. Most importantly, the PBIS system allows students to monitor their progress and qualify for many different and varied opportunities in and outside of school. The integrated store and event management system make it easy to facilitate PBIS store purchases and event check-ins through our web-based application, smartphone app, or tablet.
